Qualifications: Strong leadership skills with the ability to build teams and consensus with staff, peers and direct reports.
Lean manufacturing experience including kanban planning, establishing reorder quantities, inventory optimization, and a strong process mind set
Proven inventory management success.
5-7 years progressive experience in planning, purchasing and inventory control within a low-volume high mix manufacturing environment preferred.
Ability to develop and execute strategic plans
Excellent cross-functional interpersonal, facilitation, communication and leadership skills
Self-starter and highly motivated
Proven project management skills, developing action plans from strategic initiatives and driving results through accountability
Results driven and possess excellent organization, communication (written and oral), and presentation skills
Strong proficiency in statistical data analysis for inventory management applications.
Duties: Principle owner responsible for driving/implementing materials process improvements to support business goals with emphasis on inventory management and continuity of supply to support Quality, Delivery and Cost (QDC) on the manufacturing floor.
Poka Yoke the materials management process to eliminate non-value added activities, improve On-Time Delivery, and decrease inventory.
Lead, train and facilitate the upgrade of the KanBan System to improve inventory turns and eliminate part shortages.
Analyze demand patterns and volatility to establish an optimized Plan for Every Part, including kanban size, number of kanbans, and appropriate safety stock levels.
Develops reports relating to process, product and operation on-time performance; advises management when on-time order delivery is in jeopardy.
Works daily with necessary personnel developing the maturity of the production planning systems in support of business goals and a continuous improvement initiative to eliminate not value added operations and improved efficiency through linear flow and lean based concepts.
Evaluates production statistics and their impact to the production schedule. Reports major variances from plan to appropriate personnel along with a course correction action plan for managing issues as they arise.
Coordinates all aspects of inventory management and control including proper inventory analysis for value and usage, around which proper cycle counting procedures will be developed and managed. Makes sound decision regarding inventory reductions.
Provide cross-functional materials management expertise and leadership across manufacturing, purchasing, sales, and engineering teams.
Establish and enforce procedures for kanban resizing methodology and frequency, demand spike management, and Bill Of Material maintenance.
Collaborates with purchasing to define supplier performance expectations, establish relevant metrics and monitor supplier performance against these expectations. Cultivates an environment that promotes continuous supplier improvement; evaluates quality and performance benchmarks and the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
