Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Duties: Summary: Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in loading and unloading cargo from conveyances such as railroad cars, trucks, and in moving and storing materials or products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assigns job tasks to worker according to loading and unloading schedules.
Observes loading of conveyance to determine conformance to loading patterns and to prevent shifting or damage to materials or products during transit.
Verifies materials loaded or unloaded against work order or bill of lading.
Directs workers to move materials or products to storage areas or production departments.
Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
Directly communicates with on-site customers and carrier representatives to determine workflow, scheduling and rates.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
Maintains time and production records.
Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of all shifts.
Performs activities of workers supervised when necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages 2 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 5-25 employees in the Second and Third Shifts. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 5-25 non-supervisory employees on the First Shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
